Here’s an opportunity to step up and help lead the wonderful Peace Train team in 2024. Feel free to ask me questions here, or at the Montrose Peace Vigil (Honolulu and Broadview) on Friday evenings!
Dear friends,
I have decided I no longer will do the administrative forms (application and sponsorship) and emails to potential paraders for the Peace Train, and I am asking that someone(s) else take these over this year.
I am firmly committed for always to doing the gathering at my house on parade evening (1st Saturday in December), to storing, and to helping however I can with maintaining, the Train panels and cart, and of course to parading!
A fresh voice and approach to finding and recruiting folks to board the Peace Train is clearly needed. Also we will be traveling in October/November this year, when the parade foms are due. This straight-forward paperwork is totally doable, as I have demonstrated by doing it all these years.
I saved copies of the submitted forms, and of many of my emails to paraders and to/from the Montrose Christmas Parade Association parade runner. All these folks have been a joy to work with and are very fond of our entry and sponsorship. I will be pleased to share my files, knowledge, and advice as needed with the one(s) who step up now to do this.
It has been my pleasure and a great privilege to do this work for the Peace Train and I love and appreciate all of you and the other wonderful paraders and always will. I know this change need not derail us!
Fortunately there remain months and months til Dec. 7, 2024. In September soon after Labor Day is when I recommend that all those who step up to lead and/or help (me included) get together in person to set tasks and make a timeline for organizing the 2024 Peace Train. And early Sept. will work well with my travel schedule!
Looking forward to responses from volunteer(s), and I’m happy to discuss questions. Many thanks in advance.
Peace,
Roberta
