Greetings, Friends and Neighbors, Next Friday, March 8th, we will be showing “Making a Killing: Guns, Greed, and the NRA.” We are familiar with the the high rate of gun ownership in this country and the corresponding high rate of deaths due to gun violence. In this documentary, Robert Greenwald introduces us to people whose lives have been forever changed by shootings. He also informs us of the unhealthy alliance between gun manufacturers, lawmakers and the NRA. Here’s a preview: We are fortunate to have the Reverend Sandie Richards joining us to comment on the film and to guide our discussion. She pastors First United Methodist Church of San Fernando and is also one of the coordinators for Peace and Justice for the California Pacific United Methodist Conference, with a focus on ending gun violence. We hope you will attend this film and discussion. We always feel more informed, connected, and encouraged at the end of our film nights, and gun violence is an issue that is in much need of that kind of collaboration.
We meet at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church 2700 Montrose Ave., Montrose Downstairs in Fellowship Hall. The doors open at 7 and film begins at 7:30. Refreshments will be provided. See you on the 8th. Peace, Jeanne L.

"Making a Killing: Guns, Greed, and the NRA," which came out in 2016, runs one hour and 43 minutes. Everybody is welcome at the free screening this Friday at the church -- on the floor below the sanctuary -- with its comfortable couches and armchairs near tables with folding chairs in front of a big screen. Enter Fellowship Hall by walking through the kitchen door in the back of the building, or come through the side door past the gate. There is always plenty of parking available in the church's lot.
