My seventh annual Dodger postseason nightmare arrived much earlier this year.
After the Dodgers lost Game 4 of their National League Division Series on Monday, I carried with me a sense of doom. Tonight, the Dodgers led the Nationals 3 to 1 in the eighth inning of the deciding Game 5, but they lost 7 to 3.
So the Nationals will play the Cardinals in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series during this Friday's Montrose Peace Vigil.
I always try to look on the sunny side. With the Dodgers disappearing from my television and newspapers, I will have more time to learn about the military and civilian deaths caused by our Commander in Chief in northern Syria and in eastern Ukraine in our names. Oh Brian, this may be the saddest post ever. It is halfway to being a country song. My condolences to you on the Dodgers and courage to each and every one of us as we stand for peace as people continue to use force around the world.

After the Dodgers were eliminated, I got what I wanted in the National League Championship Series: the best team. The Washington Nationals, who defeated the Dodgers in the Division Series, swept the St. Louis Cardinals. The Nationals are some kind of magic -- on May 23, they were 12 games under .500, after losing 31 of their first 50 games. They finished this season as the Wild Card team. Will they still be as hot after a week's rest between the Championship Series and next Tuesday's opening game of the World Series? Tonight, I also got what I wanted in the American League Championship Series: the Houston Astros, and not the New York Yankees. Now I can relax as I watch the Fall Classic and ponder how the Dodgers would have fared against the Astros, while not having to worry about the damn Yankees becoming champions of the world. That's the final consolation to this Dodger fan. Go Nationals! Let's try to prove that the American League isn't superior to the National League in 2019.
