I think the organizers of the demonstration did a really good job of encouraging participants to keep the peace and to reach out to the trump supporters across the street. At the last one I was at (mid-July?) people on both sides met out in the center of the street to meet each other, and generally it went well. There were some loose cannons on our side who were very provocative. With people like that I always wonder if they're agent provocateurs because they're known to exist. Sometimes it's more obvious than others. It's too bad the weekly demonstration had to be cancelled. Whatever the motive and loyalties of the trouble-makers, this seems like a defeat.

The ABRA Foothills group is planning more actions, just not on Friday afternoons & evenings on Foothill and Lowell across from the T/P bunch. They had already realized there were non-local, violent right wingers joining the local T/P & Blue Lives Matter folks and wanted to make a big statement with numbers of progressives, etc on Aug. 21 and then stop the counter protests at Foothill & Lowell. ABRA did a community clean up on Aug. 22. They're planning other family friendly gatherings. btw - the T/P 2020 group just announced they're moving locations but haven't said to where - ABRA is watching what they do so they can avoid giving them the targets for violence they seem to want.
