A message from Peace Action in my email today. I don’t do a lot of click-tivism, but that group already has me on their radar, not that that will stop them from asking for more support! This action by Bowman and Sanders calls out the illegality of our aid to Israel being used to violate human rights. “Have you been watching what’s going on in Israel and the West Bank? Violence by Israeli forces and Israeli settlers in the Palestinian territories is escalating like never before. Meanwhile, Israel’s new extreme-right government is doubling down on its authoritarianism.[1] “It’s time for Congress to speak out. Rep. Bowman and Senator Sanders are gathering signatures on a Congressional letter to the Biden administration that condemns the far-right government's violence against Palestinians. It calls out the expansion of settlements and land annexation that fosters greater conflict and leads to shameful dispossession for the Palestinians. Lobbyists for hawkish Israeli policies will oppose this effort, so YOUR VOICE is needed to make sure your member of Congress supports this letter. But Roberta, I think you’ll be pleased to know that this political push goes further than that. At last, members of Congress are calling to enforce U.S. laws that prohibit U.S. aid from being used to abuse human rights. The letter asks the administration to ensure “that all future foreign assistance to Israel, including weapons and equipment, is not used in support of gross violations of human rights.” secure.everyaction.com/XjkWF3Nq_kucStBx4GmmZg2?emci=e6dd1608-7bce-ed11-a8e0-00224832e811&emdi=bda5fa81-7fce-ed11-a8e0-00224832e811&ceid=82190

From a friend in my Facebook feed, this Tuesday at 225 N. Jackson St., Glendale, at Glendale Unified School District headquarters. Organized by GlendaleOUT and allies, to express support for teachers/administrators in the face of the horrid anti-gay BS happening at Board meetings. In comments people are reminding each other not to engage with the opposition and encouraging men to show up.
“Come join the hug! Our GUSD folks need it!!! Let's shake out this jacky crapdoo ugliness that's farting up the parking lot and gusd hq lately. Replace with good vibes and kindness. 5pm!”

If you ever did a noon PDA-sponsored Brown Bag at Rep. Schiff’s office in Pasadena protesting the U.S. Iraq invasion/war/occupation, you probably met Ed Fisher, a stalwart regular there. He asked me to please extend to all of you, from ICUJP, this invitation to Montrose Peace Vigilers, and also asked to be put on the Montrose Christmas Parade email list:). I agree with ICUJP’s slogan …. “Religious Communities Must Stop Blessing War and Violence.”… as should non-religious ones, I’ll add. (https://www.icujp.org/) “Dear Roberta: I’m writing to you today on behalf of Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace (ICUJP), a remarkable organization which has been the center of my social justice work since late 2004 and for which I have been proud to serve during many years as a board member and treasurer. In honor of our convener, the Reverend George F. Regas, who co-founded ICUJP immediately following the events of September 11, 2001, we are holding our annual George F. Regas Courageous Peacemaker Awards event this year at All Saints Church, Pasadena, on Sunday afternoon, September 10. All the details, including the impressive list of honorees, can be found at www.icujp.org/09_10_23regas_awards. Or scan this QR code with your phone: <image.png> In memory of Rev. Regas and to recognize this year's honorees and the continuing work of ICUJP, sponsorships are available at $1000, $500, $250, $100, and $50. Please attend the event if you can. It’s free to all, but if you are able, we would appreciate a contribution of $25, $50, $100, or whatever amount you are moved to donate. If you are unable to attend, please make as generous a donation as you can. This is our major fundraiser of the year and we depend on your generosity to help underwrite ICUJP’s tireless efforts to create a more just and peaceful world. I am personally so grateful for your support. Sincerely, Ed Fisher Pasadena, California”

Sharing this from Barbara Dane's Facebook post, www.codepink.org/cuba-no-terror-shareAsk President Biden to remove Cuba from the state sponsored terrorism list. President Obama did in 2015 but the former guy added them back, Pres Biden shouldn't be continuing Trump's policy. Edited to add the direct link to the petition: www.codepink.org/cuba-no-terror

Maybe you can customist to also thank the brave Senators who voted/are voting today against more military aid for Israel. Happy to receive something to do on dodgy hotel wifi and simple enough to be doable during busy-with-fun travel such as our current getaway to OC for Oriole games: Roberta, So many representatives are scared to speak out against the US-backed Israeli genocide of Palestinian people, which is why it’s so critical that we stand up for those who do. We emailed you yesterday about sending messages of support to the members of Congress who voted against sending Israel $26 billion more in unconditional aid, and if you haven’t sent a message of your own yet, we’re asking you to do so now. The Senate is likely to pass the aid to Israel this week, and it will be critical that those who voted ‘No’ feel the support of this team and know that their efforts to move the Middle East toward peace are not lost on us. Sign our message to the 37 members of Congress who voted against sending billions more in weapons to Israel and tell them we appreciate their courage to stand up to the US and Israeli war machine’s death and devastation in Gaza! actionnetwork.org/forms/thank-representatives-who-voted-against-unconditional-aid/?link_id=1&can_id=9a164c3994d9837205f921eb9dfe175f&source=email-re-relentless-pressure&email_referrer=email_2291520&email_subject=re-relentless-pressureIn Solidarity, Just Foreign Policy
