Women's March is helping to organize events around the country on Saturday, October 17, to protest Trump's agenda, especially his Supreme Court nomination to fill Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's seat. Here's the interactive map on their website: map.womensmarch.com/?source=websiteSomebody registered a "rally/protest" at 2 p.m. next to the Albertsons at 6240 Foothill Boulevard in Tujunga, CA 91042, near the intersection of Lowell Avenue. I am there in spirit at the opposing the Trump Agenda event at Lowell, but in practice I am meeting relatives for NC barbecue in Rocky Mt., maybe we will declare our own! In other news Common Dreams reports hundreds of Protect The Results demos on Sept. 4th. At: protecttheresults.com/ already one registered for Sierra Madre. I think thanks to MPV everyone around Montrose knows what to do peacefully when justice is threatened, and where to do it.

Anni and I had a wonderful time at the Women's March Against Trump Agenda demonstration in Tujunga on Saturday. We lined up with two dozen sign holders -- at the peak between 2 and 3:45 p.m. -- along Foothill Boulevard from the shade of the bank building at the corner of Lowell Avenue down nearly to the supermarket. Everybody was physically distant, and everybody wore face coverings. With few exceptions, the participants were decades younger than us Montrose Peace Vigil regulars. The honks and waves from passing vehicles were plentiful and spirited, and we always had a captive audience in the cars waiting to get into the In-N-Out Burger across the street. But not one pedestrian was seen on the sidewalks.
There were a few Biden-Harris signs, including one that added the pun, "Bye, Don!" Another said "86 45/11-3-20." Many signs paid tribute to Ruth Bader Ginsburg -- one woman made a stack that read "Our Bodies/Our Minds/Our Choice." We got one of them to display at the next Friday's Montrose Peace Vigil before the vote scheduled in the Senate to replace her. My favorite: "'Mini Strokes' is Trump's Porn Name."
We also enjoyed hanging out with so many nice like-minded locals. I spoke to a woman whose sister lives in Palmdale -- she's been phone banking for Christy Smith for the adjacent 25th Congressional District that Katie Hill captured in 2018 but had to resign. Tujunga was in the 25th District before the 2012 reapportionment, when we got Adam Schiff back. Democrats have been fighting for that cursed seat since Buck McKeon retired.

Speaking of this, still the closest ones are Sierra Madre, L.A. and Santa Clarita. Time to sign up our corner?
