Members of the Montrose Peace Vigil message board may have noticed a little white dialog box above the Messages tab that tops each page on Tuesday: ProBoards sent a message to every registered user of its many forums appealing for support. With ad revenue down because of the pandemic, ProBoards essentially started soliciting voluntary subscriptions four months ago to supplement its income. For as little as $5 a month, any message board member can turn off the ads. This system wide appeal is the first in ProBoards' 20-year history.
ProBoards has been part of my life for 17 years. I was one of the founding members of a message board for fans of Neil and Tim Finn called Next Exit, which is still happening on ProBoards. In 2008, I moderated a short lived message board, learning how they run before starting this one as the administrator. The people of ProBoards -- headquartered in Rancho Cucamonga -- have kept everything going as close to perfection as humanly possible while dealing with the very few issues I've encountered along the way quickly and effectively on the ProBoards Support Forum.
I gave $50 -- the equivalent of a one-year subscription -- in the name of Montrose Peace Vigil. That little icon that was just added below my avatar marks me a Diamond Contributor.
