This July offers us four Sundays to enjoy Walk and Word. The 10th, 17th, 24th and 30th. As Paris Hilton used to say, "That's hot!"

Paris Hilton was right! It's HOT! Last Sunday (09/04/22, the first Sunday of the month) we don't meet for Walk and Word, but Janice and I decided we'd do just the Walk part, then she'd continue on to do the Word part at church. We did the entire hour Walk...(dispite a temperature of 90° at 8:00am) and left Deukmejian Park our spirits lifted, indeed!

It was gorgeous last Sunday as we Walked and Worded. A little overcast and decidedly cooler. Ahhhhh. Our bible contemplations based on just a few paragraphs from the Book of Mark each Sunday for the last year plus...have come to an end. Next Sunday (10/30/22) we will walk in beautiful Deukmejian Wilderness park for an hour (starting from the parking lot at 8:00am) and we'll contemplate (with questions) the Book of Acts (from 9:000 to 10:00). I enjoy these Sundays so much because I learn so much. And it's fun, too!

Deukmejian Park is gorgeous this time of year. All the rain has decidedly changed our paths...in a good way. And the air is so fresh. We're still considering the Book of Acts...just a couple of paragraphs at a time. It is so illuminating to share thoughts and questions about the "chosen words" for each Sunday. Two Sundays ago we were joined by a wonderful woman named Anna. She had seen the listing in the Crescenta Valley Weekly and joined us. We love to get new ideas and share the beauty available to all.

Two Sundays ago we were joined by a wonderful woman named Anna. She had seen the listing in the Crescenta Valley Weekly and joined us. Kudos to the Crescenta Valley Weekly -- the newspaper runs items about Walk and Word in the religious events round up, Notes & Nods, in its widely available free print edition and online even in weeks when there is no Walk and Word, like next Sunday, February 5. For example, scroll down a little in this link for everything you'd need to know to check out Walk and Word in February: www.crescentavalleyweekly.com/religion/02/03/2023/notes-nods-523/

Walk and Word has been canceled on Sunday, February 26, because of the snow. The next Walk and Word is Sunday, March 12, as previously scheduled.

I look forward to Walk and Word so much. The Walk is fairly gentle (we stop whenever we need to). And the Word part is so enlightening. Jeanne prints out just a couple of paragraphs from the Bible (we're reading paragraphs from Acts, now). Then we think about what questions we have about the reading, or favorite phrases. It's fun because we figure it out together. Please come and join us Sundays at 8:00 am (except the 1st Sunday of the month) in the parking lot at Duekmejian Park.

The temperature at the start of this Sunday's Walk and Word was 59 degrees. It probably won't be that cool again for months, so the Pollyanna in me would like to point out that Walk and Word takes place in the coolest hours of the morning. Even in a heat wave, Deukmejian Wilderness Park is the place to be. The Crescenta Valley Weekly faithfully reports the Walk and Word meeting dates and other pertinent information every month in its Notes & Nods roundup of religious events -- see the fourth brief item on the newspaper's website, published last Thursday: www.crescentavalleyweekly.com/religion/07/06/2023/notes-nods-542/Edited to add the link to the Crescenta Valley Weekly's latest Walk and Word item with the August dates: www.crescentavalleyweekly.com/religion/08/03/2023/notes-nods-546/

We're still "Walking and Wording" except for the first Sunday of every month. It would be fun if you could join us on this last Sunday in October, the day before, the day before Happy Halloween. I'm expecting it to be delightfully cool, too!
