As much as I love Neil Finn and 'CrowdeDHousE' it feels more like I'm giving back to "community" and our times when I'm at Empty Bowls...working hard while learning AND having too much fun. (How is this possible??? Come on down and find out, first hand.)

(How is this possible??? Come on down and find out, first hand.) Anni missed another Running of the Bowls last Sunday because of Neil Finn, but she'll be back at the Community Center of La Canada Flintridge for -- is that all? -- six more weeks, helping Jeanne make the ceramic bowls that will be filled with soup and given to donors at the next Empty Bowls on November 13. Check out who received last year's proceeds on this page of the Crescenta Valley Empty Bowls website: www.cvemptybowls.org/hunger.html

I'm finishing my last cup o' coffee, then I'm on my way to "talk like a pirate" Sunday and get down and dirty making a few more bowls. Is this multi-tasking??? PS. I'm making all my bowls as big as possible, AAAAAAAAARGH!

A glance at the calendar reveals that there are only three more Sundays to make the ceramic bowls at the Community Center of La Canada Flintridge, 4469 Chevy Chase Drive -- Oct. 10, 17 and 24 from 2 to 6 p.m. That's because there's less than six weeks until the Empty Bowls event. Mark your calendars if you haven't already. Details are on this page of the Crescenta Valley Empty Bowls website: www.cvemptybowls.org/events.html

But empty only until Nov. 13!Anni tells me that Jeanne counted 603 bowls made by the crew at the Community Center of La Canada Flintridge since they started spinning on Sundays back in mid-May, along with about 100 more by the kids doing ceramics at Crescenta Valley High School. Only two weeks remain until the next Crescenta Valley Empty Bowls. You'll find details -- and several updated pages -- on the official website: www.cvemptybowls.org/events.html

I mentioned EB to my friend, Bryce, living in Hawaii, and here's how she replied:
Bryce Clyne October 29 at 8:50am Report Wow! What an inspiring concept. I am going to suggest it to the New Thought Center here on the Big Island. I may even have a sign up sheet at Ralph's Memorial Service for artists who would like to contribute a bowl. Just to get things started here. I know the food bank here could use the support. Love, Bryce Anni Siegel October 29 at 8:57am You are a true activist and I love you. I will share your thoughts with Jeanne, our ceramics teacher and one of the co-ordinators of the project. Love, anni

If Bryce googles Empty Bowls, she might find some that are already going on in Hawaii.

Council member John Drayman gave Empty Bowls a plug during the council meeting tonight. He said he'd repeat it next Tuesday, too.
