I'd read that the Dodgers had diminished stadium organist Nancy Bea Hefley's role to just leading "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" in the seventh inning. But there she was playing standards and old show tunes before the game and between the early half innings, before the audience participation bits like the Kiss Kam and the two-minute game shows took over. The highlight of the evening for me turned out to be "They Called the Wind Mariah." It took decades of hearing that song played on the organ in Chavez Ravine for me to start enjoying it. What a cool video. Thank you, organist! I moved your post from the Baseball 2015 thread, where you got that quote, to a new thread because I'd love to see more posts about ballpark organists. The Los Angeles Times made the short video embedded below in 2017, Dieter Ruehle's second season after Nancy Bea Hefley retired as Dodger Stadium organist. His style and song selections bring in the younger crowd beautifully, but he can also make old fans like me laugh out loud -- Dieter played the disco hit "The Hustle" for Padre Manny Machado during the Division Series in tribute to his months as a Dodger, when he refused to run hard to first base if he judged a ground ball to be an out.

found this video: "EDDIE LAYTON /BOB SHEPPARD TRIBUTE"
In the comments section, it says: Thanks, yes, Eddie was a dear friend and an amazing organist. Very unique and that organ had a sound all its own. It gave the stadium character which has been lost since 2003. Eddie was the first organist to begin using those rally themes (charge, dum dum dum dum) at a baseball game. He was a pioneer and has left a serious void at the stadium ....we miss ya Eddie!
--- I didn't know who popularized all these themes.
