Some of Buffy Sainte Marie's movie music that wasn't mentioned in the recent American Masters biography.
*Soldier Blue (1970), for which she sang over the opening titles. Here her title song is accompanied by a montage of movie clips. You may want to look away a little after 2:00. A massacre in the movie on Native Americans is very graphic even by today's standards.
*I'm Going Home (1989/90) for Where the Spirit Lives, a movie about Native children who try to escape a boarding school.
The whole movie can be watched online here:
*Spirit of the Wind (1989). She did a song for one key sequence.
Here it is again resung in recent years on an album:
*And of course her version of The Circle Game has been featured in various movies, including the opening sequence of The Strawberry Statement (1970).

We watched the biography, so now Bernard wants to change his name to Buffy St. Bernard.

Nice! So many males are too insecure in their masculinity to ever take on a feminine name. Hope he's getting extra treats for being so mature and enlightened. (If he was human, a male with nothing to over-compensate for, he'd probably drive a nice quiet car--not one of those noisy-ass ones.)

I never got around to thanking Oss Rae for starting this thread and compiling those great videos. Hope you enjoy this New York Times article I just re-encountered that was published last November when the "American Masters" episode aired. Alongside an interview of Buffy at home in Hawaii and an insightful overview of her career, there's some beautiful photos, a video embed of "Now That the Buffalo's Gone" and another You Tube clip of Buffy on "Sesame Street." I learn something every time she speaks -- and love every time she sings. www.nytimes.com/2022/11/21/arts/music/buffy-sainte-marie-carry-it-on.html?smid=url-shareThat link is a gift from my subscription to lift everybody over the paywall.

She announced yesterday that she's retiring from live performing due to health issues.

I'm sorry she has arthritis, I know how painful it can be. I'm glad she's left so much recorded work for us to enjoy. We saw Mavis Staples last night at the Greek and she still sounds marvelous at 84.
