You were represented in Glendale too - Nancy and I happened to wear the Montrose Peace Vigil long sleeve shirts last night. We had our usuals show up yesterday, too - no new comers. More people were out on the street, it seems, though.
Liberty Tax had someone dressed up as the statue drumming up business on the opposite corner - Nancy said he was on 'our' corner when she got there but moved so I guess that doesn't count. Back in November the guy in the gorilla suit advertising the Halloween store joined us for a while.
And we had Red last night, the guitar playing singer who shows up at the corner when the weather is OK.

I really appreciate your report, Sharon, and not just because I enjoyed Red so much when I attended the Glendale Peace Vigil last year. For those who don't know, the vigil takes place every Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. on the southwest corner of Brand and Broadway at the center of Glendale. It's much busier than Montrose, with a constant patter of footsteps on the wide sidewalks and the many eyeballs inside cars stopped at the traffic lights. A lot of great literature also gets passed out on the street. And since I've been running photos from the Montrose Peace Vigil's five years, here's a link to some of the best, taken by Sharon's husband Bill W. at our special Halloween event on the corner in 2009: www.jetcafe.org/~billw/Montrose%20Peace%20Vigil%20-%20Oct%2031,%202009/

Photos taken on the corner back in June 2010.This Friday, Montrose Peace Vigil had beautiful weather, great foot and wheel traffic and a fine turnout: - Jan. 7 - 13
- Jan. 14 - 11
- Jan. 21 - 9
- Jan. 28 - 14
Fourteen participated -- more than usual -- without regulars like Jeanne, Jim, Mike, Michael and Louisa, who had business elsewhere this week. But Sharon and Bill from Glendale Peace Vigil joined us before attending a Crescenta Valley Community Association meeting. And Sigrid, Tony, Mark, Jenny and Linda, who also marched with the Peace Train last month in the Montrose Christmas Parade, were back at a vigil. The average weekly attendance for January, our fifth anniversary month, was 12, rounded to the nearest whole peacenik. That's also our average for most of 2010. A cold and rainy December averaged 10.
