March 8 is the off-year primary election for the City of Los Angeles -- you know, the ballot with just even-numbered city council districts, the board of education and community college trustees, no mayor or city attorney. Although this time, there are some worthwhile propositions among the 11 up for consideration, including Measure H, another spirited attempt to reform campaign financing -- www.yesfairelections.org/ -- which Sharon brought to our attention this week. Paul Krekorian is running for his first full term as our councilman, only 15 months after he won the special election. His only opponent is this gentleman -- augustobisani.org/ -- who finished last among ten candidates with one percent of the votes in that primary. After the run-off, I never expected to see Christine Essel again, but what happened to gadflys like Zuma Dogg?

Augusto Bisani's official website is state of the art compared to the incumbent's -- paul4council.blogspot.com/ -- which hasn't added any posts since Nov. 14, as of this writing. And the calendar on the side lists three events the councilman is attending on "Jan 11, 3911." Yikes. Krekorian's Facebook Info page -- www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=130948796281#!/group.php?gid=130948796281&v=info -- and Wall are arguably worse, with three identical posts by a content spammer dated Dec. 8 still on top of his Wall. But when I was there, it was really cool to see our friend Annie, who was a regular on the corner until she moved to Long Beach, pictured first among Paul's 1193 members.

The sample ballots have arrived. Absentee voting begins today. On Sunday, Paul Krekorian finally updated his official website -- paul4council.blogspot.com/ -- for the first time since Nov. 14. His Facebook Wall remains a disgrace, hosting the same spam for two months now. Next to his mission statement, "This is a great forum to build netroots support and momentum towards electing Paul to the council," you can click on links to get "over 600 models on your desktop" or learn about "dating with loving chubby girls." His opponent Augusto Bisani hasn't refreshed his website, but he bought the full page ad on the cover of last week's Pennysaver. And at least his Facebook Wall is well tended: www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=130948796281&v=info#!/group.php?gid=132349396613&v=wall The last report to the city Ethics Commission as of Jan. 22 shows that Krekorian had raised $42,343 in contributions and Bisani raised $4910 while adding $3750 of his own money. The next filing will be Feb. 24.

Thanks to Roberta and Sharon for posting about Charter Amendment H, the best measure on the ballot. And the Yes on H organization is the most effective and energetic progressive coalition working this election. Paul Krekorian's newest Facebook fan is a young woman named Hgigf Fyut, who posted the inscrutable sentence, "Factual Be Naughty female are there," beside a link I'll never try on the candidate's Wall: www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=130948796281&v=info#!/group.php?gid=130948796281&v=wall Call it the Wall of Shame. Obviously, the Facebook page was set up for the 2009 special elections and nobody is paying any attention now. Krekorian's crack IT staff should either maintain it or take it down.

I went on FB and reported the spam as spam...Maybe a few more of us report it so FB would notice...don't know if Krekorian's people will wake up?

You can email him via his city website too: cd2.lacity.org/index.htmI'm not his constituent or a FB friend but agree it would look better if someone kept an eye on these things for him.

Thanks for that, Sharon. I wrote to him and said his FB page didn't really represent him very well. That FB is a good part of the modern conversation...at least get rid of the spam...maybe and update once a week or so?

I'm not his constituent or a FB friend but agree it would look better if someone kept an eye on these things for him. Anni sent her e-mail to Krekorian's city office on Monday. She has yet to receive a reply. Perhaps they cannot respond to campaign related e-mails, but you'd like to think that somebody would have read a communication from a constituent. And reporting the spam to Facebook hasn't changed anything. At this hour, Krekorian's Wall reads exactly the same as last week. Honestly, I'm happy just to report such serial campaign negligence. It shows how meaningless this Second District City Council election is -- although I admire Krekorian, believe he's been a good Councilman for 14 months and wish that he'd clean up his presentation on the Internet.
