After the President's speech this week, Anni and I decided to double down on protesting, so we started Friday evening with the Glendale Peace Vigil at Brand and Broadway, where they've been since 2003 -- three years before Montrose Peace Vigil. The big stores at that intersection are vacant now, but the streets were teeming with supportive people. It was great to see Nancy, Pearl, Norman and the others again and talk about what's going on and what we're going to do next. Then we drove to Ocean View and Honolulu in Montrose for more honks, waves and conversations with friends and strangers. For whatever reason, the counterprotesters, who'd been averaging four a week, did not show up on their corner this Friday. Traffic was lighter than usual but all of the goodwill was for us: - June 3 - 11
- June 10 - 7
- June 17 - 9
- June 24 - 10
The weekly average this month was 9 participants, down from 12 in May, 11 in April -- and 10 in June 2010.
