Roberta posted the following in another thread -- I'm quoting her here so we can keep track of this upcoming event over the next six weeks:
The organization Glendale Education/Social Justice Advocates which Sharon W. and I are part of, will have a booth at Cruise Night, in downtown Glendale on Saturday night, July 18th. We need volunteers at the booth, to help run the "Peace & Justice" roulette game, dispense prizes for same, along with political outreach of course. Classic cars and progressive politics make for a fun evening, believe me. Let me know if you want to join in or are interested in more information.
Anni and I talked about it last night, and we want to join in and are interested in more information. Roberta has touted Cruise Night for years -- and volunteering at a booth for a great progressive group sounds like our best introduction.
A cursory Google of Glendale Education and Social Justice Advocates garners some links, PDF files and old calendar listings -- does the organization have a website?

We don't have a website, only an email list. We meet the first Wednesday of the month, except October when we go to the State of the Schools Breakfast instead. Our next meeting is tonight, June 3 from 6 to 8 in the Pacific Park Library conference room. We patterned ourselves after LAUSD's CAMS (actually CAMS started as a UTLA committee, I believe). Speaking of CAMS, below is a recent email about their upcoming fundraiser, an Art Walk/Saturnalia in Chinatown, 7pm - 2am, next Thursday (6/11), at a place called the Mountain Bar, 475 Gin Ling Way. They had me at Saturnalia, I'll take my disco nap and go out on a weeknight! It's free to get in (21+ with I.D. only please), it's a beautiful space, and there is going to be great work by 35 or more artists on display, along with cool music for listening and dancing, and delicious, refreshing drinks to cool you down. All for the great cause of sending L.A. students to a conference to engage in the fight against militarism and military recruitment of youth. learn more at www.nnomy.org (the conference etc.) www.militaryfreeschools.org (the Saturnalia)

Roberta forwarded an e-mail to me from Nancy, who is coordinating the booth, which will be set up on California Avenue off of Brand Boulevard from 1 to 5:30 with the game running until 10:30 p.m. By the way, I just noticed that Nancy updated the Glendale Peace Vigil website to include the News Press story about the Bed-In! www.glendalepeacevigil.org/

I sent an e-mail volunteering for the game booth sponsored by the Glendale Education/Social Justice Advocates at Cruise Night in downtown Glendale next Saturday, July 18, from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m., but haven't gotten a reply.
Maybe I should send another, but since Anni and I will be there anyway before sunset, we'll have fun and be ready to help if needed.

I monitor the gesja_email@yahoo.com account and didn't see any message from you - sorry if it got lost in the spambucket. We'd love to have you both helping out. Our booth is with the other non-profits on California near Maryland - purple canopy - easy to spot.

We'd love to have you both helping out. Our booth is with the other non-profits on California near Maryland - purple canopy - easy to spot. Thanks, Sharon! We both look forward to seeing you there Saturday evening. Roberta forwarded Nancy's e-mail to me with more details: 5:30-10:30 PM SATURDAY JULY 18 - "CRUISE NIGHT"
Drop by the community group booth Glendale Peace Vigil is sharing with the Montrose Peace Vigil and Glendale Education/Social Justice Advocates. Our booth is on California Ave. just east of Brand (near Maryland). Look for our prize wheel to spin to win a peace-and-justice-related prize. Parking in the Orange Street structure (on Orange south of California Ave.) is free this Saturday starting at 12 noon. Usually around 30,000 or 40,000 people attend. For information about the event, go to www.ci.glendale.ca.us/CruiseNight2009.asp

Brian, Thanks for the directions, but I found them earlier at my first visit to the Glendale vigil. Yes, everyone, I finally made my way to the Glendale vigil: great group. Though I do miss the counter protesters ("Impeach senator Reid") j/k. They do have a really big flag across the street; like to see flag boy take that one down, it's on like a 6 story building
