Our favorite Sunday activity every year is attending the Beatles "Love" Cantata at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church. Anni and I will be there at 10 a.m. on Sunday, December 15, at 2700 Montrose Avenue, Montrose, CA 91020. Hope you can make it too! The church's website: www.cvumc.org/Roberta described the proceedings best on the message board two years ago: And today, Dec. 17, another fabulous worship through Beatles music at CVUMC. “Beatles Nativity: Love” a Christmas cantata, arranged by musical director Barb Catlin, featured all my favorites — angels, sheep, wise ones from the east, unwed poor parents, shepherds, a tax man — plus rainbow flag paraders and all accompanied by some of the best music ever, in my opinion...

Michael and Melissa as Joseph and Mary in last year's cantata. I'm here to tell you that you do not have to be a Christian -- or even like Christmas -- to enjoy the Beatles "Love" Cantata at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church. The cast, musicians and singers vary each year, but the performances always shine in a production that lovingly adapts Beatles' songs to the story of the birth of Jesus. You'll hear hits like "Help!," "All You Need Is Love" and "Let It Be" along with lesser known songs like George Harrison's "The Inner Light," the B-side of "Lady Madonna." Last year, John Lennon and Yoko Ono's single from 1971, "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," was added to the program. Once a year, I like to get up early on Sunday.
