I saw Jane Fonda being interviewed about Fire Drill Fridays on MSNBC recently, but that Amy Goodman interview that Oss Rae linked was exponentially more inspiring.
I remember how I felt getting arrested for trespassing at the Nevada Test Site from 1987-92, so this was my favorite part: "And I didn’t know in the beginning if it would be successful, but I think that it was just — it was the right thing to do at the right time. People, in growing numbers, are coming from all over, who have never before engaged in civil disobedience and risked being arrested. And it’s a very transformative experience, because you are aligning your whole self, your body, with your deepest values. You’re becoming integrated and empowered, and it’s a very beautiful thing to see. And it seems to be gaining a lot of traction. And so I think we’re going to — we’re going to roll it out across the country. A lot of people are asking for help in starting Fire Drill Fridays in their own towns and cities, and we’re going to do that."
Jane says that "when I go back to California, I’m going to do Fire Drill Fridays there to try to get our governor, Gavin Newsom, to stop already with the drilling and the fracking."
