Many Montrose Peace Vigil members have enjoyed a long affiliation with the National Religious Campaign Against Torture and its local branch, the LA Region Religious Campaign Against Torture led by Virginia Classick. So many essential events spread all over this message board. Time for a thread devoted to this continuing stain on our national soul and what we’re doing about it. This Friday, January 11, marks the 11th anniversary of the Guantanamo prison. NRCAT and other organizations -- including Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace, Code Pink, the ACLU of Southern California and Progressive Christians United – are planning a vigil, rally and press conference downtown in the morning. I hear that our Roberta may be going: www.icujp.org/content/close-guantanamo-now

Yes, I do plan to go to the rally downtown tomorrow. As for the Progressive Democrats of America lunch vigil on the 16th, we will be starting over since most of the regulars in Pasadena are no longer in Adam Schiff's new 28th Congressional district. Great to hear that Brian and Anni will be there! It seems that drones are finally being talked about, and even seriously questioned: act.rootsaction.org/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=6180This Friday, January 11, marks the 11th anniversary of the Guantanamo prison. NRCAT sent out an appeal last Thursday to its supporters in states represented by a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, asking us to write to Senators like our Dianne Feinstein to urge the release of the committee's three-year, 6000-page report on torture. Type in your ZIP code in the link below, then customize the letter or write your own -- Senator Feinstein usually responds with a pertinent form letter: salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/2162/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=12273

Thanks, Brian...just shortened the already written letter to 2 paragraphs. Nice. Didn't see an accounting of letters sent, so far? I hope many.
