Thank you all who were willing to accept forms to dedicate a tree in a City of Glendale park and for considering my suggestion that we each honor the Glendale Peace Vigil for their 10 years of dedicated, ambitious, energetic activism to end war. On my form I circled "tree honoring" and listed "Glendale Peace Vigil, 2002-2013. (Hope I got the dates right, if not I can correct.)
I am a board member of Glendale Beautiful, which organizes the tree dedications and the arbor day event on March 4, 2014, at 10 am. (Casa Adobe de San Rafael Park, 1330 Dorothy Drive Glendale)
Sharon came up with the wonderful concept of getting a Glendale Peace Vigil grove somewhere. I will ask at the board meeting which is tomorrow. At the Arbor Day event when they read off the trees donated, I would just dearly love to hear a long list of trees for our sister/brother peace vigil!
Any questions or need a form, let me know.

The lady doing the trees says we can ask the city tree guy, she thinks he will let us have a Glendale Peace Vigil grove somewhere, and also if we get forms to her by the 28th, will still be in time. I'll bring more to the corner on Friday.

So, today I filled out my Glendale Beautiful Arbor Day, 2014 form...gave $45 and dedicated another tree to the Glendale Peace Vigil Grove. Time (and money) well spent! I want to see a forrest where there were no trees...

I am pleased to report that the Glendale Peace Vigil will be honored with 7 trees, to be planted in a Glendale park, we hope in a small grove, mirroring how they stood together for peace for over 10 years weekly in downtown Glendale. The Arbor Day celebration at which the certificates for donated tree will be presented to us will be at Casa Adobe, 1330 Dorothy Drive, Glendale, this Tuesday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m.
I'll be leaving from Montrose at around 9:30, happy to take passengers, and will also pick up MPVers certificates and bring to the corner next week.

This was more fun than I thought possible. I learned that Arbor Days in different states are on different dates, from mid-February through May...who knew? Our Glendale Peace Vigil "Grove" will be planted at a later date (as will all the other trees) and we will be kept updated as to where and when, by Roberta.

The certificates of appreciation that Glendale Beautiful gives to each donor are almost as beautiful as the program itself -- they're printed on a parchment stock topped by a line drawing of rolling hills and an oak tree, with the donor's name and honoree large in calligraphy script above a gold seal by Glendale Beautiful -- and presented in plastic sleeves. Here is what's written on mine:
Anni filled out her donation form so that her certificate had Montrose Peace Vigil as the donor and Glendale Peace Vigil as the honoree, pretty cool. The dates on mine were wrong technically -- Glendale Peace Vigil gathered on the corner of Broadway and Brand until January 11, 2013. We're grateful to Roberta for getting us involved. The other donors from our peace vigils, I heard, were Sharon, Bill, Mike and Rosalind. Seven trees will be planted in tribute to a decade of service by Glendale Peace Vigil.

It was my pleasure and I can't wait til tree-planting. Bill McKinley contacts all the donors directly re getting a picture with your newly-planted tree. Sometime between now and next winter I am sure to run into him and will tell him that we want our photo op in the grove together. (I assume everyone does!) This was more fun than I thought possible.
