It's never too soon to start planning ahead We are one month away from our first bowl making workshop for 2015. If you are a seasoned volunteer, welcome back and you can expect things to run the way they have the past few years. If you are new, let me fill you in. We'll be making the bowls at the ceramics studio at Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre (108 North Baldwin) on 8 Sunday afternoons beginning on June 15 and finishing on August 16. They will be from 4-8 PM.
At the workshops, we make lots of bowls that will be part of a fundraiser for hunger relief that will take place at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church on November 7th. We will have seasoned potters present to guide beginners through the process, so no experience is necessary. All that you need is a desire to help. We enjoy each other's company and enjoy making things with our hands even if they get dirty. It's special because we know that we are working together for a cause that will bring aid to many people who are in need. We have raised over $40,000 for hunger relief in the past 7 years and it all begins in these Sunday afternoon sessions.
Details are in the attached flyer. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have and do invite anyone you know who may be interested. Let's do this together!
Peace, Jeanne

Jeanne Just About Sez It All Greetings, Friends, This Sunday will be the first of eight bowl making workshops. They will take place at Creative Arts Group, 108 North Baldwin, Sierra Madre.
These fun filled afternoons are an opportunity to explore your inner creative, constructive, helpful self. It’s a great way to meet friends and neighbors. Your presence and participation at these workshops will put a special shine on the hundreds of bowls when they will be on display at our fundraiser on November 7. I hope that you’ll consider coming to a few Sundays. Once you experience the satisfaction of making something beautiful with your hands for the purpose of easing hunger, you may want to come to all of them.
We ask for a $5 donation to help cover the cost of firing. If that is an obstacle for you, please let me know and we will cover it. We have all started out as beginners. Some of our best helpers are recent beginners and we will guide you gently through the process.
Peace, Jeanne

Greetings, Helping Friends. We are off to a great start. Our first two workshops have been very productive. Thank you, if you are one of the many cheerful helpers. If you haven’t, there are 6 more remaining.
There will be a slight change in the schedule. WE WILL NOT BE MAKING BOWLS ON SUNDAY, JUNE 28. We will make that up by adding another workshop in August.
Thank you for your participation and patience. Jeanne Lavieri

Here are a few snapshots from last Sunday's (August 16th) final meeting of the bowl creators. Several spontaneous "Bowlers" dropped in to make it such a pleasant afternoon. Jeanne might have more info as to who they were. Made for a lively time. And one pic of Arden, the strong heart and excellent glazer.

I'm not sure how my email invitation to help with bowls wound up in the hands of a youth director at La Canada Presbyterian, but he sent 8 kids and four parents to Sierra Madre. They made bowls and are interested in coming for soup on November 7. The room was full of people awaiting instructions. We have enough skilled volunteers, such as anni, so we were able to make it work.
