The Eagle Rock Vigil, more formally known as the Northeast Los Angeles Radical Neighbors for Peace Through Justice, meets on the Southwest corner of Colorado and Eagle Rock Blvds. Here's a picture of just a few of the friendly peaceniks you'll meet if you join us any Saturday from 3:00 to 5:00pm. This vigil has been going strong since 2002. Photo credit thanks to Norm.

Everybody who usually attends the vigils in Eagle Rock on Saturday afternoons were elsewhere the past two weeks -- marching with the Peace Train in the Montrose Christmas Parade on December 5 and populating Wilshire Boulevard for the Building Blocks protest about climate change on December 12 -- but many of us returned to the corner of Colorado and Eagle Rock Boulevards on December 19.
Anni and I got there around 4 p.m. just as a persistent light shower began, joining Ross, Kathy and Mary, who had seen the vigil for years and decided to stop. She had protested the Vietnam War in the late 1960's, recalling a candlelight action that stretched along Wilshire Boulevard from Beverly Hills to downtown L.A. Nina and Mandela also visited for awhile before the rain drove all of us home.
We resolved to come back next Saturday, December 26, from 3 to 5 p.m.

Ross, many thanks for posting these blasts from the past! So far I have looked at and read the Easter and T-giving ones, and just had to stop to respond. What fun to see one of my all-time favorite creations: the 'End this "TURKEY" of a War' sign. Anyone want to car-pool with me to Old Town Pasadena to deploy the Remember Afghanistan roses, on New Year's Eve afternoon, this Thursday? I have to update the US troop death number. Depressing, good thing I have my vigil kindred spirits to help keep mine up.

Excellent, Jeanne, so glad to have you there too! Let's leave my place at about 12:30, to meet up with Norm and Pearl on Colorado about 1:00. And other peaceniks are welcome of course.
