..... will roll down Honolulu on the evening of Saturday, Dec. 3rd, 2016. December will be here before we know it, and with everyone's busy lives it is not too soon to get it on your calendars. Let's have one of our 30+ peacenik turnouts this time. I eagerly anticipate hearing your thoughts about how to make that happen and look forward to sharing mine, here and in person at the corner, starting tonight. ALL-ABOARD!!!!

Mike engineered the framework that put the Peace Train on wheels starting with the 2013 Montrose Christmas Parade. The folks of Montrose Peace Vigil and Glendale Peace Vigil, along with other fellow travelers, will march for the seventh consecutive year in the Montrose Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 3. The parade starts at 6 p.m., but we will roll our custom built Peace Train to the staging area on Honolulu Avenue between Rosemont and La Crescenta avenues by 5 p.m. Please come and join us. For more information, check out the Montrose Christmas Parade Association's webpage: www.montrosechristmasparade.com/Here's the official video cued up to our appearance in the 2012 Montrose Christmas Parade, before the Peace Train got its wheels:

Love this picture and thanks, Brian, for cueing up the video. Good news -- we are almost halfway to our $1,000.00 minimum for the Montrose Peace Vigil to be "Silver" sponsors of the parade again. (Last year if I recall correctly, we were in that category along with Glendale College and others with you'd think much deeper pockets.)
If you are planning on donating and want the tax-deduction, please get me the check payable to Montrose Christmas Parade Association real soon, and/or let me know to expect it, so I know how much to write my check for -- due to the parade association this Wednesday. I will cheerfully accept non-deductibles at any time!

Check out today's CV Weekly for the Christmas parade ad. At first glance I thought we had been mistakenly dropped, then saw us, Montrose Peace Vigil, listed as a Gold supporter. (We contributed at the smaller, but still generous, Silver level.). Who knows why we were upgraded, but I take it as confirmation of our value to the community!

I noticed that too - I thought you had upped your contribution! In any case I think it's great to have the recognition.

That's the best turnout for the Peace Train in its seven years. And for the first time, instead of walking alongside the Peace Train, our large contingent marched behind the Montrose/Glendale Peace Vigil banner that announced our entry, heralding the Peace Train at the rear. Peace Train is coming -- all aboard!
Pastor Steve was the conductor, leading the passengers. Mike was the engineer, in both meanings of the job. He designed the rolling structure in 2013, and he pushed it forward blindly behind the front panel during the parade again. Norm stayed beside him, acting as Mike's eyes. People lined the street from the curbs deep into the sidewalks -- waving, flashing peace signs, clapping, calling out "Merry Christmas" and, sometimes, cheering. Cat Stevens' "Peace Train" played along the route, heard better than ever. So many helped to keep the Peace Train rolling, but everybody has Roberta to thank for beautifully organizing everything from the beginning and for being such a wonderful host before the parade at her house near the parade route.
Anni will post some photos in this thread soon. And we'd love to hear what others have to say -- and see what pictures you may have.
