I recently had the chance to watch this bio. about Jane Fonda on HBO and found it interesting, especially the parts focusing on her activism. A recording of Nixon commenting on her opens the documentary (though it seems tame compared to stuff trump says in public on a regular basis). I myself got pretty disgusted seeing celebrities and journalists (including Howard K. Smith) attack Fonda for being against the Vietnam War. I never knew Fonda had a role in shaping the material in 9 to 5 (e.g., conditions in the workplace and how they could be improved) or that her aerobics videos was a fundraiser for an organization she started with Tom Hayden.
I won't comment on anything else in case someone wants to watch it.

How did you get to see this documentary recently, Oss Rae? I read about "Jane Fonda in Five Acts" when it came out last September, but was too busy to watch it being broadcast on the various HBO channels. By the time I looked for it on HBO On Demand in November, it was gone. I keep checking the menu every week -- it's bound to return. The organization you mentioned was the Indochina Peace Campaign, founded in late 1972. I enjoyed this recent article: nursingclio.org/2017/04/13/the-campaign-to-confront-nixon-and-end-the-war-in-indochina/Later, Jane started IPC Films. Before "9 to 5," the production company made "Coming Home" and, my favorite, "The China Syndrome." Please comment more! There are no spoilers when discussing a documentary about someone so famous for 55 years.

I'll watch that for sure! She traveled with Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland to perform in front of U.S. troops during Vietnam, as shown in the movie/documentary F*** the Army (which I rented from Netflix years ago).

Fortunately back in the day my gal pals got me to lots of events with Holly Near, a stalwart activist and lesbian groundbreaker. Beautiful photographs Ross I'll watch that for sure! She traveled with Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland to perform in front of U.S. troops during Vietnam, as shown in the movie/documentary F*** the Army (which I rented from Netflix years ago).
