Happy New Year, Dear Neighbors, We are rested and ready for some more Friday night films. The next one coming up is “Honeyland,” a documentary about bee keeping in Macedonia. If that esoteric subject matter doesn’t grab your attention, consider that the Washington Post referred to it as an ecological fable. www.washingtonpost.com/goingoutguide/movies/in-honeyland-a-solitary-beekeeper-delivers-a-warning-about-life-in-and-out-of-balance/2019/08/05/838f40f8-b491-11e9-8949-5f36ff92706e_story.html?arc404=true
You may have noticed a recurring theme with our film choices so far this year, It seems that whatever topics of interest, whatever needs there are in our community, nation, and world, they will need to be resolved in the physical setting of our biosphere. So movies that explore our relationship with our home in Creation are important. In “Honeyland” we will see how time tested wisdom of harmony with nature clashes with short term goal of profit. And we will enjoy seeing a beautiful corner of the world and the traditional practice of bee keeping. Please come and watch it with us on:
Friday, January 17, at 7:30 We’ll be downstairs in Fellowship Hall. Doors will open at 7. Refreshments will be served and there will be a discussion after the film. Peace, Jeanne L.
