Greetings, Friends, We have an inspiring film lined up for you for Friday night, February 21st. “Hidden Figures” tells the story of how three African American women overcame obstacles of discrimination and made crucial contributions to NASA’s space race of the 1960’s. The film paints a rich picture of the political climate of the time. The injustice of the Jim Crow era and the frantic competition of the Cold War make a dramatic setting for the stories of the women who made history with their extraordinary mathematical efforts. We hope you’ll join us to watch this important story and stay for a lively discussion afterwards. We believe that gathering for experiences such as watching meaningful films, caring conversations, and breaking bread together (or chips and crackers) fosters health in the community. Please come out on 2/21/20 and see for yourself. We meet downstairs in: Fellowship Hall at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church Doors open at 7, film at 7:30. All are welcome. Peace, Jeanne L.

I saw "Hidden Figures" on cable a few years ago, and I loved the performances and its rendering of our nation's history, in my lifetime and for the ages. What a wonderful movie!
The only factoid that I can add to Jeanne's description is that the running time is 2 hours and 7 minutes -- not too long and enjoyable every minute.
