L.A. Theatres At Risk 2021 Very informative video! Thanks for sharing it! Ever since the Egyptian reopened with American Cinemateque as the owner I've missed the original full auditorium. I've loved American Cinemateque's programs, but I hope it can return as it had been.
Recently I visited Hollywood multiple weeks in a row and noticed graffiti painted in certain prominent places, including the wall that's now closing off the Egyptian. There's also been more trash around. I feel like I'm back in Hollywood of the '70s again. I wonder if L.A. is deliberately letting Hollywood get somewhat rundown to make land values go down, making it more favorable for developers to come in?

This made me mad. It's about how religious interests pushed their warped puritanical agenda on the movie industry, and Roscoe Arbuckle had to pay a price even though he was innocent of any wrongdoing, and even though he made a fortune for Hollywood.

Today I went by the site of Charlie Chaplin's studio at 1416 N. La Brea, now the home of The Jim Henson Company (Muppets).
Here's some 104+-year-old footage of it being built (early use of time lapse!). The video says it was built in 1915, but the plaque in front of the facility says 1917.
