This Friday, August 5th, The Topanga Peace Alliance hosts another First Friday Film Night featuring the documentary THIRST FOR JUSTICE. The film focuses on three battles for clean water—on the Navajo Reservation, in Flint MI, and at Standing Rock—united in the belief that Water Is Life. “Powerful and sobering. THIRST FOR JUSTICE reveals how contemporary water problems on the Navajo Nation, in Flint, Michigan, and elsewhere in the United States are the result of state and corporate crimes against humanity. THIRST FOR JUSTICE provides witness for those coming together to protect not only the human right to water but mother earth as well.” Motivating and inspiring...THIRST FOR JUSTICE tells the stories of... communities that are among the hundreds that experience water injustice across the country. It's a problem of priorities, racism, and classism." After the documentary, we will watch a few shorts showing the dual crises of water contamination and drought in California and discuss some of the current developments regarding these issues. We will open the Zoom event at around 7:15. Before the program, we will have announcements regarding upcoming events and actions for peace and social justice. We will enable video so that we can optionally see each other if you choose to enable your camera. The main program will begin at 7:30.
