I bring this up because it doesn't come from something I read. I've been thinking about how Democrats can win more hearts and minds by reminding all voters that they will shape the Supreme Court for the next four years in November. The Republican won in 2016 -- in large part because he promised anti-abortion justices from Leonard Leo's list -- and look where we are now. Biden must be re-elected and Democrats must keep the Senate if you care about your sacred Constitutional liberty.

When I started this thread two months ago, I was hoping that some organization would step up to make the Supreme Court an election issue. On Monday in Rolling Stone online, I learned that 140 progressive groups in a coalition called United for Democracy are spending $1 million on ads in Arizona and Pennsylvania and planning to canvass as part of a $10 million campaign. They started last summer with ads calling on Congress to "rein in the extreme Supreme Court." Here the link to their homepage, which hasn't been updated for this campaign yet: unitedfordemocracy.us/I'll be watching United for Democracy's campaign closely. I also expect to hear from member groups that already send me e-mail blasts, like Alliance for Justice and Courage Calfornia.

On Monday -- the second anniversary of the Dobbs decision -- I learned from the New York Times and MSNBC about "the launch of a seven-figure digital campaign aimed at educating and mobilizing voters on the impact the next president will have on the future of the U.S. Supreme Court," according to Stand Up America, a 501(c)(4) that started right after the 2016 election. Barbara Streisand's on board and Andy Cohen has already recorded a video for social media. Here's the press release on the organization's website: standupamerica.com/2024/06/stand-up-america-launches-seven-figure-gotv-campaign-focused-on-the-supreme-court/And this is the campaign's Supreme Court Voter website: www.courtvoter.com/
