From Amnesty International:
It’s been nearly two years since Roe v. Wade was overturned and abortion access was decimated in many parts of the country. Since then, over 20 states have imposed harsher restrictions on abortion access than Roe permitted.
Now, not only is access to abortion restricted or under attack — information about abortion is being removed by social media companies like Meta and Tiktok, too. This prevents people from accessing lifesaving information and making informed choices about their bodies.
Join us: Tell the CEOs of Meta and TikTok to stop taking down information about abortion online. Urge these tech giants to keep critical information publicly accessible on their platforms!
Reproductive health and rights organizations have reported an increase in the number of their social media posts about abortion being removed on social media since the fall of Roe, along with instances of accounts being temporarily suspended.
The internet is a central part of modern life and how we access information. These private tech companies have a concerning level of control over what information is accessible… and what is removed. And their policies for why they remove certain content are far too often vague and limited.
We must hold Big Tech giants accountable. Add your name to tell Meta and TikTok that limiting access abortion information is dangerous and unacceptable!
While these companies rake in BILLIONS of dollars in profit every year, they seem content to pick and choose what information is available to users — regardless of the human rights consequences.
And we won’t let them get away with it.
We will fight to keep this information online.
Thanks for raising your voice with us — together, we will stop Big Tech from taking down essential healthcare information!
Sincerely,
Jane Eklund
