Hello Montrose Peace Activists, This Friday night at 7:30pm at All Saints in Pasadena, Chris Hedges, author of previous Read and Practice Peacemaking (RAPP) selection Empire of Illusion, will be discussing and signing his new book, Death of the Liberal Class. You can find more information here: www.allsaints-pas.org/calendar/#555This Saturday the Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace (ICUJP) will be co-sponsoring two events. The Peace and Justice Book Fair is at USC from 9:30am - 5:15pm, and the Costs of War: Unmasking the Costs of War, Racism, and Empire is also at USC, featuring a panel discussion with Paul Chappell, Chris Hedges, and David Swanson, author of War is a Lie. You can find more information here: www.icujp.org/I'm really interested in the Chris Hedges event on Friday night. Is anybody else interested? Maybe we can carpool there? Peace, Edmond

This is great news, Edmond! And just the kind of news that's perfect use of the board. Brian and I will have to get a sampling of Mr. Hedges from UTube, for now, as Friday is our too pooped to pop evening...next time, for sure!
Brian mentions, "In this excerpt from his speech last October in Troy, NY, Chris Hedges explains how the liberal class has failed in the Obama Administration, which has codified the worst excesses of Bush and corporate America:"
WOW...I am missing someone great.

Type Chris Hedges and "Death of the Liberal Class" on Google Videos and you'll get pages offering entire lectures about his book last autumn, most of them on sites besides You Tube. I'd love to hear him -- and talk to other activists about how to achieve progressive values in this country again. Perhaps Americans have started to wake up since the election and Hedge's book tour because of Wisconsin and the Ryan plan, laying bare the enormous avarice of the Republican Party for all to see. Brian and I will have to get a sampling of Mr. Hedges from UTube, for now, as Friday is our too pooped to pop evening...next time, for sure! Truly, I feel beat up Friday nights throughout tax season. I drive to the vigils yawning so much that my eyes water. The vigils invigorate me, then I have go home, sit in my throne and hope there's a baseball game on TV. From May 10 to January 1, however, there isn't much I can't plan to do if I get at least one week's notice. Please let us know what happens Friday at All Saints Church!

I mis-typed earlier. Chris Hedges is speaking about his new book, The World As It Is: Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress. Just when you thought he couldn't get any cheerier! LOL
I totally appreciate coming home tired. Jenny and I are always at the corner in our hearts on Friday, but with the kids, it just seems too difficult on a Friday after work. We will be there soon, however, as the summer break is coming into sight.
Thanks for response. I really appreciate it!
Hope to see you guys soon
