Bill, we're not stalking you, really. But we happened to catch you visiting Occupy L.A. on Sunday: And Anni and I enjoyed your show at the Amphitheatre in Universal City Saturday night. We opted for the cheap seats for $34 each in the mezzanine, wondering why people pay more than $100 to sit closer at a comedy concert. We loved all of your new material on familiar topics -- the Republican presidential candidates, red state America, how Obama and the Democrats can reach their base and, of course, religion. No comedian these days is working the territory pioneered by Mort Saul, Lenny Bruce and Dick Gregory as effectively as you, Bill. We're going to miss you while your HBO show is on hiatus after next Friday. We'll have to make do with the "Real Time with Bill Maher" channel on You Tube: www.youtube.com/user/RealTime?ob=5

We were at that show! My sister Marie and a couple of friends were with us and we all had dinner at Tony Roma's before the performance. Too bad we didn't know you were there. We were in section 10 at the back of the first floor - only $45 plus the 12.50 service fee - not too bad. I was glad to see a practically full house - so many of the music concerts we've been to lately are half full. 90 min is a long comedy show, too. It was great fun.
Thanks for posting the video - good to see a 1%er in solidarity with the masses!

I thought I saw Bill (in a baseball cap), then when I didn't spot you I thought Brian was right and my Bill sighting was some one else, and I was just wishing to see someone I knew (out of about 6,000 strangers). Great show! I agree!!! Also good to know I was right, again.

It probably was Bill - he took our leftover ribs back to the car while my sister and I went in the handicapped entrance - she's still using a cane since her hip surgery.

Bill Maher began his two month vacation from his HBO show with an appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and a profile in Newsweek. I don't always agree with Bill -- especially what he says about Newt Gingrich in this segment -- but he always makes me laugh: The Newsweek feature includes an account of Bill's visit to Occupy L.A. that overlaps with the You Tube video that kicked off this thread. The next day, he sent 100 pairs of socks to City Hall: www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2011/11/13/bill-maher-s-comedy-of-rage.html

On last week's HBO show, Bill Maher said he'd have a big announcement during the comedy special he was doing on Yahoo on Thursday, and of course I missed that. I hope you read the excellent article on the front page of Saturday's Calendar section by Scott Collins and Greg Braxton, because for some reason, the Los Angeles Times did not post it online. I searched thoroughly. Instead, here's the L.A. Times story about Bill's $1 million donation to the Obama super PAC from Friday: latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2012/02/bill-maher-donates-million-dollars-to-obama-pac.htmlI admire his commitment and foresight. Here's my strategy: If we're forced to defend California's electoral votes on the ground -- my preferred mode of political engagement -- there will be no second Obama term. So I've been considering giving to his regular campaign fund, since I'd never reach the $2400 limit by November, to help efforts in the swing states. I've only held back so far because I remembered the impact on my e-mail's in box when I started sending money to Barbara Boxer's campaign in 2010.

Our evening last night was 'filled with Bill'. First we watched Bill in the Piers Morgan Show. He was on for about 45 minutes. Piers asks silly questions...Bill answered deftly, but I more enjoyed this single segment on Chris Matthews. Hope you do, too. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036697/#46547613
