i heard about two more joining us today. I think we had 20 viewers of Pray the Devil Back to Hell. Thanks for the pizza, Brian and anni. The film was very well done and very powerful. It was great to watch it in the company of so many who have been standing together for peace for so long.

The movie kind of got me to thinking that some of our "corner time" spent to focus (pray or meditate or free our minds) on what, if any, our next step for world peace might be? Take form, how?

Sounds good to me. Maybe interested ones could gather at the flagpole. Reading the soldiers' names could be one thing. Praying/meditating is a step all by itself and could lead us to more next ones. Happy MLK Day

I love Anni's and Jeanne's ideas. The flagpole in front of the Vietnam War memorial is the perfect place for both meditation and commemoration, however we choose focus, for whatever period of time, during the vigil. The gatherings could also bring more attention to our auxiliary half-mast flag.
On our usual ground along the wide corner -- the three patches of grass with trees -- it would be hard to concentrate on anything but the honking vehicles, waving and happily shouting drivers and those pedestrians stopping to talk to us.

Anni and I talked in clay class tonight about some suggestions that Pastor Paige gave me for making our meditations meaningful. If we could bring a small rug to set out under the flag pole, it would set the space aside as special for the time. We are thinking of starting at 6:15 and taking 15 minutes. People are welcome to join or not. After reading the names of the soldiers who died, we will be imagining peace. We can take turns bringing some kind of inspirational reading and then spend some time in silence together. I will bring something this Friday. These are thoughts, a work in progress to get us started. Anyone interested, please contribute suggestions.

I'm going to try to get a smallish (5' X 5') "rug" of astro-turf from OSH or somewhere like that!
And make a sign before the Vigil that reads: IMAGINING PEACE
Righteo?

Astro turf. I love it. Looks like the imagining is well underway.

Or should I say Another Movie Night ?. www.thepeacealliance.org/issues-advocacy/body-of-war.htmlThe Peace Alliance is the coalition that organized me to spend a day tabling for a plank advocating a "U.S. Dept. of Peace" in the California Democratic Party 2012 platform. It didn't get the vote of the executive board, but we sure reached a lot of people, many of them already supporters, and most receptive to the idea. Nice to see Phil Donahue alive, kicking and promoting peace!

Nice to see Phil Donahue alive, kicking and promoting peace! After Peace Alliance sent me an e-mail last month about hosting a movie watching party for "Body of War," I forgot about posting about it, so I'm glad Roberta did. I know it will break my heart and Anni will cry, but I would love to be involved in a screening. Make it after October 15 and I'll buy pizza for everyone attending.
