www.crescentavalleyweekly.com/Periodically tonight, I've been refreshing the homepage linked above and searching the name Brandon Hensley, the reporter who interviewed members of Montrose Peace Vigil at the corner last Friday, hoping that the Crescenta Valley Weekly would issue his story before bedtime. (Brandon wrote several articles in the past few weeks for the publication, many about sports.) If somebody sees the article on Thursday before Anni and I do, please post that webpage's URL here.

Thanks so much for this link, Sharon...fun read, a little loose with the facts, though. I wandered down the street during the Vigil to the Candy Store and got several copies to pass to our friends. Page Four is the hard copy article.

Kudos to Brandon Hensley, a good reporter and a fine writer, for painting the background and capturing the scene on both corners in his one visit. What Anni was mentioning above regarding facts was that Roberta said she's from Dayton, not Cincinnati. And Brandon came on a rare bad night for "insults flung their way – gestures or verbal barbs – from drivers," which all happened before I arrived. I can't recall the last time somebody gave me the finger or even a thumbs down, but do remember a lot of outright hostility five years ago, before most Americans finally turned against the war in Iraq. It's certainly fair for Brandon to frame his story with the contrast between some negative reactions to Montrose Peace Vigil and the unanimous respect shown to the American Legion members. But then, why would anybody flip off a veteran?
