Population Connection and the Glendale Human Relations Coalition are screeing the film "Mother: Caring for 7 Billion" on Thursday, August 30 starting at 7 pm at the La Crescenta Library at the corner of Foothill Blvd. and La Crescenta Ave. We'll have light refreshments and a brief discussion following the film. I have addresses for local elected officials including the Glendale and Pasadena school board members and reference material about family planning issues to facilitate advocacy. You can view the documentary's trailer here: www.motherthefilm.com/We had about 50 people, including Roberta, at our July 31 viewing at Pasadena City College but only about 20 at the Glendale Central Library on August 10 so I decided to try a third time to attract more people. Please join us if you have an interest in saving the planet and easing human misery.

Thank you, Sharon, for giving us this fantastic third chance (and so convenient to us in the hinter lands) to see this important film. Brian and I will be there. We "have an interest in saving the planet and easing human misery."

I passed out most of the flyers that Sharon gave me at the Glendale Peace Vigil last Friday to the folks at the Montrose Peace Vigil. At least three, maybe four of us will be in the La Crescenta Library's Community Room this Thursday at 7 p.m. for the screening of "Mother: Caring for 7 Billion." Three others who will be out of town and another who's teaching that night said that they wished they could be there too.

Thank you for spreading the word. I'll be happy to lend the DVD to anyone who wants to see it and can't be at the library Thursday.

Thank you Brian and Anni and Pastor Paige for coming to the screening. It was a wonderful bunch of people and best after film discussion of the three showings we've done. I'm forwarding comments to the film maker and Population Connection.

What a fine film...a great opportunity. I wished I would have asked the young kids (boys) what they thought of the whole thing. I was glad they were part of this...hope it wasn't too much. Magic can create! Power to the PEOPLE, right on!

The boys stayed for the discussion and one of them talked about sustainability. It was a wonderful crowd. With the three screenings we totaled about 90 people so I'm very pleased with getting the message of worldwide voluntary family planning spread around.

We are grateful to Sharon and Bill, who not only put on the screening -- they provided an excellent layout of information and ways to get involved on three tables along with another table with healthy drinks and snacks. I wished I could have stayed for more of the discussion afterwards, but I had come straight from work, so we needed to eat dinner, while feeling more appreciative than ever of our resources. I've been thinking about the documentary and what I can do to address the population explosion since I saw it. As Sharon told us, direct contact with our elected representatives is crucial. This page on the movie's website is a good place to start: www.motherthefilm.com/#!contact-politicians/c3ge I've been hearing about microlending as one solution for poverty for years. The movie shows how it also helps women take control of their bodies. Now I'm looking for the charities that deliver.
