This is the fifth annual thread on the Montrose Peace Vigil message board loving and supporting Crescenta Valley Empty Bowls, which is also celebrating five years of raising money to feed hungry people from Tujunga to Burma on Saturday, November 10, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church in Montrose. With each $15 donation, you choose a handmade ceramic bowl made for the event, enjoy some wonderful soup and, after it's washed, take the bowl home. Learn more about the charities, see the stellar list of local soup chefs revealing some of their offerings and get clues about the silent auction goodies from the donors list on the official CV Empty Bowls website: cvemptybowls.org/

Looking forward to EMPTY BOWLS 2012, this Saturday, 4:30 to 8:00. See the beautiful poster for the address and time. You might want to be there early, for the most choices.

Warning...slight spoiler alert...really just an attempt to whet your whistle! The big celebration is tonight, 4:30 thru 8:00PM. Hope we won't be too late and miss all the best folks in the world. Be there or be HUNGRY for SOUP.

Thanks for another great event. Great company and excellent soup. Now we just need to find room in our cupboards for two more bowls!

Thanks for another great event. Great company and excellent soup. Now we just need to find room in our cupboards for two more bowls! Thanks for joining us, Sharon, and for signing a postcard. Good luck with your storage challenge. I usually have a few dirty ones in the sink, a few clean ones in the drying rack, and the rest fit in the cupboard.

I want to thank Jeanne, Paige and all of the volunteers who made the fifth annual Crescenta Valley Empty Bowls even more splendid than the previous four. New on the tables this year: placemats outlining the three charities that will benefit from the event along with huge cans of soup as centerpieces with custom labels naming the ceramicists, chefs, singers, musicians and other helpers who contributed.
We're sorry that we missed early birds Roberta, Sharon and Bill, but Nancy and Bruce greeted us on their way out. We arrived after 6, so we got to hang out almost until 8 with Linda and Robert, his daughter Kelly and our old friend Michael Crosby, while making a few friends.

Thanks for another great event. Great company and excellent soup. Now we just need to find room in our cupboards for two more bowls! I know the feeling, so I tried to eye-ball that my selected bowl would meld into an existing stack, and it does! Some encouraging random notes: John read in his email this morning that the California Community College system Academic Senate just approved a "peace studies" curriculum. Tonight the Studio City peace vigil celebrates their 10 years of standing every Friday for peace. Yesterday I did a Code Pink banner drop over the 405 at Palms and Sepulveda, to celebrate their 10 years of activism. Fun!
