And we couldn't be more pleased to announce this engagement, live at the Crest on Foothill, Saturday, June 22 at 9:00: Jade Rabbit (Bruce's band with Nancy, too):

Yes, I'm looking forward to finally hearing Bruce play.
And if that doesn't wear you out too much, the next morning will be Paige's last Sunday with us. We are going to be singing lots of Broadway songs. That will help us be cheerful in our sadness. We are hoping that many of her friends in the community will be there to help send her off. I would also like our congregation to see how connected she has been to so many causes outside of our walls.
The service begins at 10. It's the same church where we have had Empty Bowls, 2700 Montrose Ave. (with the pretty Peace Pole in front) And then we will have a pot luck downstairs afterwards. Please join us for that so you can have a chance to say goodbye. MPV tshirts welcome. : )

A happy/sad and very full weekend. Brian and I are doing everything. Thanks for the reminder, Jeanne. We've got to participate in this great send off for Pastor Paige...and it's not like she's even leaving the state!

Since everybody who frequents the Montrose Peace Vigil message board was at the Crest on Saturday for the debut of Jade Rabbit, I'll withhold my written enthusiasm for the musicianship of Bruce, Nancy and Bill and for their material until they announce another chance to hear them. Then we'll start another thread. Yes, I'm looking forward to finally hearing Bruce play.

I would also like our congregation to see how connected she has been to so many causes outside of our walls. Again I have to thank Jeanne for inviting us to Pastor Paige's final Sunday at Crescenta Valley United Methodist Church, just as I'll always be grateful to Paige for all of the actions she got us involved in -- the Read and Practice Peacemaking group, Hope in Hard Times and various meetings citywide on ending torture and Islamophobia. The most memorable gathering was the one Paige organized on her church's front lawn on September 11, 2010 in response to the worldwide attention focused on that preacher in Florida who threatened to burn the Koran. Here are my posts before and after Paige's uplifting event: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=talk2&thread=150&page=1#2351Paige was one of the first peace vigilers to register on the board. This is my favorite post of hers: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=35&page=3#456We will see Paige again. Meanwhile, those folks behind the Orange Curtain are about to be blessed.
