I'm starting this thread down in the Life department because most of the features that will be mentioned here will only apply to logged in members. Hopefully, these tips will make life on the message board more enjoyable. Anni and I are also here to help you find any functions you might be missing since the upgrade. And if anybody would like us to post an avatar for them, just e-mail the image to one of us.
Most regulars hit on the new Like button as soon as ProBoards' Version 5 was installed less than two weeks ago. The thumbs up icon made familiar by Facebook is in the top bar of every post. When you click on it, your name appears in the bar. If more than two members like a post, click on the numbered link next to their names and you'll get a pop up displaying all of the folks along with their avatars.
The new software also sends a notification to your Profile when somebody likes your post. Have you seen those numbers in a box sticking out of the Profile link in the Montrose Peace Vigil banner on top of every page? When you click on it, you get a pop up that shows who liked which post and when. If you get any Messages from members, a number box to click on will appear there.

Glendale Peace Vigil as seen on The Insider, Glendale College's student magazine, in 2011. ProBoards' new software makes posting photos and other images on the message board much easier. You still need a URL, which has to be hosted somewhere and end with jpg, png or gif. Google Images is full of them -- click on an image, then "Full-size image" to see what it really looks like, and copy the URL in your browser. Elsewhere on the Web, you can right click on an image, then on Properties, and copy the URL there. (Please be wary of copying graphics hosted on newspaper and wire service websites. They're sticklers about copyrights.) On the Create Post page, find that button that looks like a framed painting, six squares from the right. Click on Insert Image and up pops a dialog box. Paste your URL there, ignoring the Alt Text field, and click on Insert Image. That puts the code and the URL in your post. Move your cursor below the code to make room for your text. Now click on Preview -- and you'll see your image load.

Brian told me that Nancy liked six of his posts, all on Friday, and he especially liked seeing that Nancy had dug deep into the message board to view some of Montrose Peace Vigil's greatest actions in 2009, like both Bed-In anniversary tributes -- and this one:
You can't tell from this initial batch of photos, most of them taken early, but many hundreds if not thousands of people turned out for the Halloween Spooktacular by the local merchants, passing the corner and accepting candy from members of the Montrose Peace Vigil portraying notable and notorious pacifists: Gathered around a poster board identifying the characters are, from left, Anni as Sister Mary Corita, Paige as Lydia Maria Child, Roberta as Jeannette Rankin, Tony as a Code Pink husband with wife Sigrid as cofounder Jodie Evans and Jeanne as Julia Ward Howe.

To whom it may concern (or not): I cant find any other place/way to post right now so: I was out Friday because when I came home Thursday - 2/27/14 - my house had been broken into and ransacked and stuff was stolen and I had to deal with shit. Happy Birthday Jeanne! "Imagine no possessions".....Love ya'll ("& your little dog too": Season of the witch quote from Oz), Nancy

That's the most awful drag, Darling Nancy. Hope your couch is OK! More importantly, Nmøsnee? And most importantly, YOU?
