Thank you, Norm, for starting this thread! I've wanted to join a Peace through Justice Protest in Eagle Rock for a long time, so I'm really looking forward to this coming Saturday. Nina and Ross from the Eagle Rock vigil were essential to the success of the Peace Train in last year's Montrose Christmas Parade. I wrote to Ross about getting on his e-mail list, and as part of his reply he gave me the link to their Yahoo Group site for the North East Los Angeles Radical Neighbors for Peace through Justice -- they started in 2002, and this site was established in March 2003: groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/NELA_peace/info

Anni and I attended our first Eagle Rock vigil this Saturday for the full two hours. The vigil constantly received enthusiastic honks from the traffic turning right in front of us onto the beginning of Eagle Rock Boulevard's main drag, also from those turning left from Colorado Boulevard and left from Eagle Rock onto Colorado, many with full carloads of people waving and flashing peace signs. Pedestrians were relatively scarce. After three summers of being blasted by the sun in Montrose, ever since the devastating winds of 2010 took away the tree shade we used to enjoy, we really appreciated the huge gas station sign on the southwest corner during another hot afternoon.
We always love hanging out and talking with Ross, Nina, Norm and Pearl whenever we demonstrate with them. We just met Flo, a regular at the Eagle Rock vigil, who's 90 years old and the bearer of the brightest smile I've ever basked in. Flo is joy personified.
Anni took a group photo, which she will post here. Everyone is welcome to add to this thread -- you do not have to register as a member of the Montrose Peace Vigil message board to reply -- or start a new thread.

Being true to my nature, I couldn't decide on only one picture, so here's 2. (Unfortunately both are missing our gorgeous Roberta, who was there, but had to be elsewhere by the time I remembered the camera.)

Another Saturday well spent. Starting with an exciting Dodger WIN over the Sad Francisco 'Hated Ones'...then on to Eagle Rock to join our fellow PeaceNiks. What a fine afternoon. Lots of honks, cheers and one big truck gave us an air-horn blast.

So glad we stopped by the Eagle Rock Peace Vigil. We were there at 4:35...and joined the lovely duo of Flo and Nina. What a gracious corner in a fine and welcoming neighborhood. Closer to 6:00 we got to meet Paco. And the vigil was complete. I was having such a fine time I forgot to take pics...next time, for sure.

This sign makes me smile so I wanted to see it again. I would like to make a sign or 2 on the current awfulness in Gaza. Please suggest wording. "Disarm the Whole Holy Land"? Meanwhile another link in the wrong place on this board. A fun spot down by the River: folar.org/frogspot/I recommend this for a refreshing evening -- local musicians may be interested in checking it out. Norm posted this picture on his facebook page. This is Ross from today's Eagle Rock Vigil. Always current, they are.
