Here's the last photo of Earth taken by Voyager 1. Earth is just a pale blue dot within the brightest of the color bands (optical artifacts of the lens system due to the sun being dangerously close in terms of angular separation). Can you find Earth? Here's a link to a nicely embellished version of Carl Sagan's essay about that final photo of Earth. It certainly puts war, all war, into proper perspective. Here's a little more Sagan-contemplation. And here's that last bit again for emphasis. Think about it.

This just in from a secret admirer of the PeaceVigil:
Hi all, In case I'm not at the corner this Friday, please be sure everyone is looking high up in the North North-East direction at ~6:40pm for the Iridium Flare:
www.heavens-above.com/IridiumFlares.aspx?lat=34.20556&lng=-118.22815&loc=the-corner&alt=0&tz=PST
According to the link above, there should be Iridium Flares on Wednesday (~6:52) and Thursday (~6:46) evening near the same location in the sky so you can practice finding them.
