An opportunity for a history lesson: ON MARCH 8, 1971—14 years before Edward Snowden was born—excessive government surveillance was exposed when eight seemingly ordinary Americans broke into an FBI office in Media, Pennsylvania, and stole more than one thousand documents. HEAR FROM THE KEY PLAYERS who exposed COINTELPRO, the FBI’s vast domestic spying operation designed to induce paranoia among Americans, particularly civil rights activists. "Media, PA 1971." Thank you, Sharon, for posting the link about the COINTELPRO burglars from the ACLU's website. They stand among the greatest American heroes of my lifetime, and I'm sad that I can't go to see them. The Peace Alliance offers the deepest thinking on peace and justice issues, avoiding partisanship in its actions like the latest one, a customizable letter to your federal elected officials, asking them to support a slate of criminal justice reforms on Capitol Hill: org.salsalabs.com/o/696/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=17012After I clicked on Submit, the next screen gave me Judy Chu along with Adam Schiff as my House member. I filled in the salutation to complete my submission to Schiff, but left Chu's letter unsent.
