COINTELPRO and the FBI office burglary 1971

As I mentioned Friday night the ACLU sponsored event with Bonnie Rains, one of the burglars, Betty Medsger, the reporter who published the first of the stolen material and has written "The Burglary:The Discovery of J. Edgar Hoover's Secret FBI" and Hank Jones and Harold Taylor, former Black Panther Party members targeted by COINTELPRO that we attended at Occidental College on Jan 29 was excellent. The members of the panel were articulate and very moving with their explanations of events in 1971. Equally inspiring were the college students filling the room and taking notes and videos - engaged and active - gives me hope for the future.

It's interesting to note that anni's friend Bob Zaugh, the champion and our connection to "Cast The First Stone." strongly recommended The Burglary to me. There is so much out there to learn and do, I can't follow every lead, can't keep up, so I really appreciate others' reports.

RAPP will be meeting at my house on Monday, 2/9 at 7:30 if anyone would like to come help plan in person. I don't imagine that any of you movers and shakers need another meeting in your lives. This is a pretty nice meeting, as meetings go. Fresh brewed drip coffee and snacks around my kitchen table as we vent, converse, and strategize ways to change the world for the better.
