"Terraplane," an album of Texas blues by Steve Earle and the Dukes, was just released today. This is the audio stream of the song "Go Go Boots Are Back," which was posted on You Tube last week:

"King of the Blues" is my favorite song so far on Steve's new "Terraplane" album.
I still follow a bunch of old white guys I loved in the 1970's and 1980's when they were young -- Ian Hunter, Tim and Neil Finn, Chuck Prophet, Ray and Dave Davies and Bob Dylan -- because all of them have rewarded me in this ever deepening new century with excellent new albums. Nobody has been more prolific with a better batting average than Steve Earle. Since he became sober in the early 1990's after his first three long players, he's released a CD with new songs virtually every year. Only Neil Young and Elvis Costello have kept up with Steve's output, but most of their recent songs are forgettable to me.
Let us greet the king of the blues. "Terraplane" is the Steve Earle and the Dukes album I've been craving after "The Revolution Starts Now" came out back in 2004.
Steve and the band will make their final appearance on the "Late Show with David Letterman" on Monday, February 23. I'll be watching.

Here's a recording Steve Earle and the Dukes on David Letterman 02/24/15...it was my first fave on the new album. Only to be replaced by 'King of the Blues' today...Enjoy.

I credit Steve Earle's "The Revolution Starts Now" CD for getting me through the latter Bush years, even more than Neil Young's "Living With War" and Ian Hunter's "Shrunken Heads," two more great anti-war albums by artists a generation older than him. Steve's album was first in 2004 and it still rings true. I'll always remember the rapturous look on my late friend Don's face when I played "Warrior" for him the day it came out. Somebody assembled a moving slideshow and posted this clip on You Tube last year: That song still knocks me out.

Anni and I could eat at one of our favorite restuarants in the mid-Wilshire area before seeing Steve Earle and the Dukes on June 18 at the El Rey, a standing room only venue. Instead, we'll catch them at the Canyon in Agoura Hills the night before. We've already bought our great seats and the mediocre meal on Ticketmaster: www.ticketmaster.com/Steve-Earle-the-Dukes-tickets/artist/852406"Rich Man's War" was the single from Steve Earle's "The Revolution Starts Now" album in 2004.You Tube has been posting audio streams of Steve's entire catalogue since 2013 -- songs from his 16 studio albums and some other projects released on CD's -- all organized under #Steve Earle. "Rich Man's War" still has the power to make me cry a decade later.
