I thought some of you might be interested in the interfaith statement for peace scheduled for a press release on Friday. I am beginning to be involved in the Abrahamic Faiths Peacemaking Initiative - which has been able to bring leaders from the Christian, Jewish, and Muslim faith communities to the table. I'm just learning and observing right now. The email conversation about the content of the statement revealed a lot about the tattered state of relationships even in Los Angeles. You can check it out at: www.peacesalamshalom.orgPaige

The press release Paige said was scheduled for Friday still hasn't hit the Abrahamic Faiths Peacemaking Initiative website, and the link on the homepage For Action says "coming soon."
I poked around, noticing that All Saints Church in Pasadena, which fought the IRS over free speech and the war in Iraq, is one of the chief sponsors. This paragraph from the About AFPI page, coming after one outlining the direct human toll, deserves quotation:
Equally disturbing are the disease of spirit and the erosion of conscience in our own land. Americans have largely become morally inured to the destruction of the Iraq war, and our concern for loss of life, human dignity, and property can no longer be taken for granted. The war in Iraq is both a palpable tragedy in and of itself and a powerful example of how U.S. citizens have allowed an institutionalized predilection for violence and profit to lead our nation wildly astray.

I believe I have just added the AFPI press conference about Gaza (Brian - tell me if I have succeeded!). I am so impressed with this group's willingness to gather. Everyone standing here is taking a risk within his/her own faith community to build these bridges.

oops - looks like it didn't work. I clicked the Tube tag and inserted the embed code between youtube and /youtube. What did I miss, Brian?
Thanks, Paige

Hey, I see Paige at the beginning of that video!
We'll discuss it Sunday, but did you copy the address on the browser? I should have mentioned that. I've had trouble using the embed info on the original You Tube page.
I look forward to watching this later tonight. Thank you, Paige!
