Crescenta Valley Community Association and its sub-group, the Far North Glendale Homeowners, are sponsoring a candidate forum at the February 25 CVCA meeting.
All candidates for the three City Council seats on the ballot this year have been invited to join us for a discussion of issues that affect the Glendale part of the Crescenta Valley.
The meeting is in the Dunsmore Park Community Room, 4700 Dunsmore Ave., La Crescenta, starting at 7 pm.
Candidate response so far:
Teahan - Yes Stepanian - No Response Yet Yousefian - No Response Yet Quintero - Yes Najarian - Yes Lafian - Yes Keuroghlian - No Gharpetian - Yes Philpott - Yes Friedman - Yes Solis - Maybe (prior commitment) Kazazian - Yes
Please let all your friends and neighbors in Glendale know about this opportunity to hear directly from the candidates. The three top vote getters in the April 7 election will be making decisions that may change the quality of life in our valley.

So 12 candidates are vying for three at-large seats. Looking at that list of names, I wonder when Korean Americans will step up to be represented.
The next three months are packed with elections. Los Angeles has its primary March 4, Glendale on April 7. Then L.A.'s general election is May 19, same day those propositions in the budget deal will be put to a statewide vote.

There is one Korean American on the GCC board but he isn't running again - there are 4 running for the 3 seats up this year on the GCC board.
The student member of the GUSD board is a Korean American, Benji Kim from CV.
LA's primary is March 3, btw.

It is interesting that more candidates from the huge Glendale Korean-American population aren't emerging, or is that group more in unincorporated LaCrescenta, not city of Glendale?
Victor King, the incumbent GCC trustee who isn't running again, is Chinese-American, I'm pretty sure. FYI for any Glendale voters reading, the GCC faculty are supporting the "Three A's", Ann (Ransford), Armine (Hagopian I think), and Anita (blanking out on surname).

Thanks for the clarification on Victor King, sorry I made an incorrect assumption. I think there are lots of Asians in north Glendale but I don't see much in the way of political activity. When working on outreach for the historical society we found many Korean Americans are very active in Christian churches. If any of you share a church building with a Korean or other Asian congregation please let them know about the candidate forum.
