Anni and I woke up to wonderful news on Sunday: Debbie Wasserman Schultz is resigning as chair of the Democratic National Committee. Although Anni voted for Hillary and I voted for Bernie in the California primary, we've been together since last autumn in calling for Debbie's ouster because of her obvious favoritism for Hillary's campaign, and because of her pro-TPP and pro-Wall Street votes as a member of Congress. She does not represent our party anymore. We're very happy that Donna Brazile will replace her -- and we hope that Donna provides the transparency that the DNC needs to move our party forward, which starts with clearing out the stench that Debbie is leaving behind. Donna should apologize to Martin O'Malley, Bernie Sanders and their supporters on behalf of the DNC.
While we were sleeping, both of us dreamed that nobody mentions Trump throughout the next four days. Not just for our sake as viewers -- it would be a brilliant move strategically. But that would never happen. We'll judge the success of this convention on how little Democrats feel the need to appeal to fears of a Trump presidency, and for how much they inspire us in a progressive agenda that lifts all Americans, building on President Obama's achievements.

Seth Meyers has given some of the best comedic commentary throughout this election. Here's a clip from his show last night about the Bernie or Bust protesters at the convention:

One of the reasons I stay up past 12:40 a.m. is to see if Seth Meyers does one of his "A Closer Look" segments about the news a day or two earlier. Here's his take on the events at the second day of the Democratic convention and Trump's look-into-the-camera appeal to Russia on Wednesday to hack and release Hillary's e-mails:
