Robert Sheer is one of my old heroes. I did not know that he was editor in chief of Truthdig. In today's news:
The severe reaction by Senators Feinstein and Rockefeller to the leak that Obama will name Leon Panetta as CIA director may stem from more than their pique at not being informed about his choice.
Could they be afraid of Panetta uncovering agency practices even worse than those we already know about -- crimes only they heard about on the Intelligence Committee that might actually shock the conscience of most Americans? Which somehow rendition and torture have failed to do.

It just hit me: There's only an hour left to wonder whether Scooter Libby will be pardoned.

I grew up along with Caroline Kennedy (she's five months older) and always admired her. If she only had the raw ambition confined to one of Palin's toenails, she might be worthy of being appointed a U.S. Senator. But it's embarrassing to see how Caroline is bungling her grab for her uncle Bobby's seat. She's either hearing the worst advice any Kennedy ever got about public relations -- or ignoring it. Or perhaps she's telling us today, by refusing to disclose her finances until she takes office, that she really doesn't want the position badly enough. I quote myself. Geez, a whole month ago. There are so many questions tonight after the New York Times broke the story, but I'll stick with this one: What took Caroline Kennedy so long to pull herself out of contention?

With the next close vote in the Senate, I could wind up wishing that Caroline Kennedy had taken the job.
Why did Governor Paterson wait two months to appoint Hillary's successor? And why choose a Blue Dog Democrat?

Thank you for that, Bill. I do feel better now. Although I think that Caroline's shadow will never darken any electoral arena again, Markos is a funny guy.

Brian, Glad you got "Talked Down" a bit by Kos too. I can't access my email account that my account here is linked to, so I guess for a time I'm a guest here.

Bill, if you like I could delete the old "bill" account and you can start another. Your previous posts would not be erased. Or you could choose another user name and I'd close the old account.
