CA bill AB-2178 would place restrictions on small groups (e.g., Food Not Bombs) who give free meals to homeless. Californians are being encouraged to call Governor Brown and tell him to veto it.

Yikes!!! I just got this from California Peace Action:
What is worse than having Donald Trump in control of the U.S. nuclear arsenal? Handing him new nuclear weapons that are designed to be “more usable!”
Yet that’s exactly what the Pentagon wants to do, and we need to stop it.
Congress included money for so-called “low-yield” nuclear weapons in the 2019 Pentagon budget. While these weapons make for smaller explosions than most in the U.S. nuclear arsenal, make no mistake – they are still powerful enough to level a city.
House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA), Congresspersons Ted W. Lieu (D-CA), John Garamendi (D-CA), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), and Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) recently introduced the bicameral Hold the LYNE—or Low-Yield Nuclear Explosive—Act.
This critical new legislation would prohibit the research, development, production, and deployment of low-yield nuclear warheads for submarine-launched ballistic missiles. In order for this bill to succeed, we need to generate as many co-sponsors for it as possible.
Ross, that’s where I need your help. Call your members of Congress today and urge them to support the Hold the LYNE Act.
1) Call the Capitol Switchboard today at 202-224-3121.
2) Follow instructions to reach your Representative in the House of Representatives, and then say (in your own words to the extent possible):
3) My name is ______________, and I'm a constituent from [YOUR CITY]. I'm calling to urge Representative/Senator ____________ to cosponsor the Hold the LYNE Act (House bill H.R. 6840, Senate bill S. 3448), introduced by Reps Lieu, Smith, Blumenauer, and Garamendi in the House, and Sen. Markey in the Senate. It is far too dangerous to hand over new nuclear weapons that the president will likely deem “safer” and “more usable.” Introducing new “low-yield” nuclear weapons lowers the threshold for nuclear use, endangering the United States by inviting a new nuclear arms race and increasing the risk of a full-scale nuclear conflict. I urge you to cosponsor and support The Hold the LYNE act.
4) Call back, and repeat the process for your two senators.
In the words of Dr. George Shultz, Secretary of State under Ronald Reagan, "The idea of a low-yield nuclear weapon is kind of a mirage. It is a nuclear weapon... it invites escalation." Nothing should be more terrifying than giving a thin-skinned, ill-tempered president more ways to start a nuclear war.
Please, call your members of Congress today.
Sincerely,
Jon Rainwater Executive Director Peace Action

Good one, Oss Rae! I got that e-mail too. And now for something completely different: Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has proposed that the National Park Service start charging fees to protest in Washington, D.C. Credo has a petition: act.credoaction.com/sign/protest-tax/?t=3&akid=30173%2E69721%2Efz6pHpCredo's e-mail arrived at 6:08 a.m. Tuesday, and I saw it half an hour later when the petition had about 4,500 signatures. At midnight, the total is more than 57,000.
