It's probably too late for Kavanaugh, but here's an Idea for a Question for the next candidate for the Supreme Court. Background: Regarding pardons, Article Two, Section Two, Clause 1 of the US Constitution reads: "The President shall ... have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment." The question for prospective judges: Do you think there's any chance a majority of the founders of the Constitution of the United States thought it could ever be acceptable for the power of impeachment to be used as a tool to AVOID impeachment? A similar question for prospective legislators: What will you do to clarify the ambiguity about whether the President's power to pardon can be used as a tool to AVOID impeachment? The full text of Article Two, Section Two, Clause 1 of the US Constitution:The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States; he may require the Opinion, in writing, of the principal Officer in each of the executive Departments, upon any Subject relating to the Duties of their respective Offices, and he shall have Power to grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offenses against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.Does anyone have ideas for other questions?

Dangling the possibility of a presidential pardon IS a use of presidential pardon power (or mis-using it in cases of impeachment - thus ironically creating another case for impeachment).

Your questions are so perfect, Cavin' Awe! On the sillier side I'd like to ask him the same question I've been posing to republicans on my tv... "Why are you still breathing?"

Perhaps Kavanaugh will be impeached as a federal judge after the documents in the National Archives are finally released after the election. It's already obvious that he lied to Congress under oath, in this decade and the last one too.
Meanwhile, he will have to withdraw his nomination to the Supreme Court before Monday's hearing to avoid further shame.

Too bad that the Democrats won't have time today to delve into Kavanaugh's psyche and ask him about his crusade with Kenneth Starr to impeach a U.S. president for lying about having consensual sex.

I'm in awe that they put Kavanaugh onto any court. When in doubt, find someone else! Conspicuously absent from the coverage (that I saw anyway) was his ironic insistence that teenage mistakes should not affect HIS adult life despite recently ruling otherwise over a teenage migrant. www.politico.com/story/2018/07/06/trump-supreme-court-pick-kavanaugh-immigrant-abortion-teen-700856The only consolation is that he's quite impeachable (although the people that would impeach rarely get enough money to win an election).
