Hello Activists and All!
This is my first visit here. I just read Brian's blathering blog and older tidbits from some of you -- fun.
Appropos of a conversation with Anni and Brian on "the corner", I'd like to recommend a great flick "Sunset Story". Tony and I saw it at the Laemmle back in 2005. A documentary by Laura Gabbert who so poignantly follows the friendship of 2 women residing in the retirement home Sunset Hall in L.A. The elders there are involved in workers' rights, healthcare reform, peace & social justice, culture, etc, etc, etc. It's a non-profit that has existed since the 1920's. Know it? Been there?
Peace, Sigrid

Honestly, that was the first I'd heard of "Sunset Story," or Sunset Hall, far as I can remember. We're going to look for the DVD when we go to Amoeba in Hollywood later this week. Here's the official website for the documentary: www.sunsetstory.com/index.cgiBy the way, Sigrid, I loved "Brian's blathering blog" so much, I may have to rename the damned thing.

I do know of Sunset House, have seen a documentary on TV about it, don't know if was "Sunset Story" or not. (Probably not Huell Howser!)
I hope there is some sort of affinity group housing like that for me when I can't manage on my own, scores of years from now of course. Maybe a co-op right here at 2715, we can hire young peaceniks to tend us and push us up to the corner.
