Guests are welcome to post on this message board. Just click on "reply" up there ^ in the blue area. i know there's an application that you can enable where people can post little flags on a map of the earth to show where they're from.
obviously, most folks on MPV are from Cali-for-neye-aaaa but maybe it would be neat if you posted red flags on a map showing all the more recent guest activity so we could have a visual prompt of who seems to be attracted to the message board. I love the ways that Martine is always thinking -- and suggesting. That's a good idea to consider when there are more flags to plant. We're still so happy that Moscow continues to show up here regularly. And you in Winnipeg, Canada! In September, we had guests from Rancho Cordova and Santa Rosa up north and Santa Monica and Beverly Hills near here in California, along with another from New Hampshire and a Beijing Telecom IP address twice. Last month, Microsoft came back. Google also checks in periodically. Both are presumably collecting terms for their search engines. Our content could be attracting guests. So why not leave a message? War is over if you want it.

Hey, Brian, now you can add West Hills, Calif., to your list of exotic locales!
I'm proud of you and all of the sisters and brothers in Montrose. It felt good joining you a couple of years ago and waving an "Impeach Bush!" sign at motorists. That felt so good!

You could feel good every week. Thanks for checking in.

Dressed in period costumes, members of the Montrose Peace Vigil portrayed heroes of pacifism (and gave out a lot of candy) at the hugely popular Halloween street festival hosted by the local merchants. If you're new here, this is a quick link to photos of our event: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk&action=display&thread=65&page=4We appreciate the return visits to this message board in October from Russia and Massachusetts, not to mention all the folks looking in from other Los Angeles neighborhoods and the three hits from Microsoft itself. The most surprising guest of the month was in South Korea. Thanks for reading -- and please feel free to write something! Just click on "reply."

Allow me to issue our monthly invitation to all guests -- feel free to post your comments, questions and greetings anywhere on this message board. Click on "reply" in the blue boxes above and below.
This has also become the space where I give the monthly traffic report. November had five times as many visitors as October. Thanks to Sharon, who linked our thread about the special city council election on the local Foothills Forum message board, and Anni, who ran our URL's for the Montrose Peace Vigil's pacifist Halloween performance and for my Ray Davies concert reviews on Facebook.
The board had guests from New York, Illinois, Oregon, the state of Washington and the province of Ontario in Canada (not that city out by San Bernardino) along with Palo Alto up north and too many places in Southern California to list.
The hit of the month came from Japan, with the National Institute of Information and Communication listed as the Internet Service Provider. We're grateful that a government agency of a nation with a pacifist constitution would visit us.

Let's get together during Xmas (3-week) vacation. Judy Tejeda Wow! I can't express how wonderful it is to see you here, Judy. The last time I remember talking was when I ran into you at Bob's Big Boy in Montrose, so you know how long ago that was. I'd love to get together again. I gave up writing and editing in 1994 and became a full-time accountant for the money, but I enjoy it. I never stopped protesting. I wouldn't call myself a leader, but this message board proves I took your typing instruction to heart. I heard from other Montrose Peace Vigil members that you're serving on the water board and still teaching as a substitute. Please feel welcome to post here anytime and stop by any Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Ocean View and Honolulu!

This message board's most exotic guest in December has to be the one from an IP address in Jyvaskyla, the capital of Central Finland located 170 miles north of Helsinki with a population comparable to Glendale, Calif. As is the case with all visitors, we have no way of knowing who they are, what they read or how they got here. Anni thinks this one might be an Ian Hunter fan, because Ian's very popular in Scandinavia, while I say maybe all of the references here to Finn -- in our Entertainment department about the brothers Tim and Neil from New Zealand -- might have gotten picked up in somebody's search engine. The runner up came from Ryde, Australia. We also had a guest from Georgia and two from Virginia last month. Besides the usual plethora of Southern California visitors, someone from Oakland dropped by and another from Goleta checked in three times. In the weeks before Christmas, there were so many hits from Amazon that I almost stopped counting them, which explains those high guest totals you might have seen in the Info Center on the homepage. Things have slowed down since then, but it's another month, year and decade -- if you're new here, feel free to click on "reply" and post on any topic. And here's a quick link to our 25 most recent topics: montrosepeacevigil.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=recent

A screenshot from a ProBoards tutorial telling administrators how to customize the colors on their forums.ProBoards marked their 10th anniversary last month. I've been a member of three of their forums since 2004 -- so I'm a huge fan, grateful for the reliability they provide 24 hours every day and individuality they allow anybody who states that he or she is older than 12. Absolutely Free! as Frank Zappa once promised. Message boards could become the eight-tracks of the Internet. They're not easy to post on or even read on hand-held devices, I imagine. But you can write much longer pieces on them than Facebook would tolerate. ProBoards was my first choice when I introduced the Montrose Peace Vigil to the Internet 16 months ago. The format was more conducive to conversation than the tangled e-mails we traded among ourselves. And I didn't have the expertise to set up a dedicated website (nor did I want the hassles, responsibility or expenses of one). We are here! And guests are welcome to contribute to our board. Just click on "reply" in the blue rectangles.

The Montrose Peace Vigil message board had a lot of visitors in the last quarter of 2009 from all around our planet, as I mentioned previously on this page. So far this year, we've had no unknown guests from outside the U.S. Still, the IP address locator service I use logged visitors from Dayton, Ohio and Harker Heights, Texas, which are pretty exotic places to me, born here in Tujunga, Calif.
While human guests beyond Southern California have been fewer, the board got 26 hits in 30 days from Google bots in Cabot, Arkansas. Long before Google drove cars with 360-degree cameras down streets worldwide, the corporation made its money by surveying the World Wide Web and processing the key words it found into ads on the sites themselves and terms for its search engine. Looks like we've become big enough to be noticed -- and Google might be throwing out links from the content here.
